How to fix paper jam in paper shredder?

Take paper jammed out of the machine

First, we need to press the reverse button, at the same time, take the papers out of the paper feed unit. Then, we turn on the switch again or forward (Button Auto or Forward). This process should be repeated many times until we get all the paper out of the machine. In case you can not get some stuff stuck with this method, please try to switch the machine back and forth between normal modes and backing up in a moment so that the jammed paper inside falls into the bin. After that, we will run the machine in the low load mode, shred each paper to check the operation of the machine.

Clean up the shredder unit

After a period of use, the shredder blade will be dirty due to paper dust or external dirt. This is also the main reason caused the paper jam. To clean the shredder blade, we have to disconnect the power supply to ensure safety, use a specialized oil to clean and lubricate the blade. Please note that only a sufficient amount of oil is used to prevent the oil from falling into the bin, causing the paper to be dirty.

Cleaning the shredder blade is important because the machine oil helps to soften the paper, which easily slides off the stuck blade. Then, continue to operate the machine in the low load mode, shred each sheet to check the operation of the machine.

There is an important note to avoid damaging the paper shredder, as well as the danger for the users, please do not use water or other chemicals to clean the shredder blade unit because it cannot be cleaned by that way. We can easily find out oil for paper shredder blades that are sold at a variety of stores or companies offering office equipment at very affordable prices.

If you tried the two methods above, the paper shredder is still jammed and is not working properly, then we should do the following. Be sure to disconnect the power supply from the outlet, pull the paper carrier out of the machine, and look inside of the paper bin. Use pliers, tweezers with pointed tips to remove all stuff in the shredder blade unit. These stuff may be staplers, sticking plaster that we accidentally left before operating. After that, we will run the machine in the low load mode, shred each paper to check the operation of the machine.
